Now that you've been pre-approved, you can start searching for a real estate agent. This is an important step in the home buying process because your agent will be your advocate and guide throughout the journey.

How do you find a trustworthy real estate agent? Referrals are always a great place to start. Ask your family and friends if they have any recommendations. First thing first, do you need a real estate agent? Technically, the answer is no.

Buyers who decide not to work with one find the process more difficult and time-consuming, but ultimately it is possible to find and buy a home without an agent. If you do choose to go this route, be sure to educate yourself on the process and have a clear understanding of what you're getting into.

It's always advised to work with a real estate agent, especially if you're a first-time home buyer. They will help you find the right home for your budget and needs, navigate through the paperwork, and represent you in negotiations.

When interviewing agents, be sure to ask about their experience, how many buyers they've represented, what kinds of homes they specialize in, and how knowledgeable they are in my area.

The simple answer to finding a real estate agent is to ask around for recommendations and then interview a few agents to find the best fit for you. The most important thing is that you find an agent that you trust and who is focused on your priorities.
